When I first told our family that I had plans to turn the basement into a movie theatre, everybody didn’t think me, then when they realized I was serious about the project, they became particularly excited, however my kid was asking a million questions and I tried to answer them patiently.
He wanted to recognize how the two of us could possibly fit all the theatre seats in the basement.
I had to explain it wasn’t a full sized movie theatre, but a miniature a single that would be just for friends and family. He was thinking that I was going to have some sizable addition added to the house and the two of us would have this enormous movie theatre. Oh my, the imagination of children gets carried away periodically. I explained how the two of us would get a projector that would supply us with a high quality picture. Instead of getting a single of those movie theatre screens, I wanted to just put a fresh coat of white paint on the wall and use that as the screen. I also thought it would be cool to put up some movie theatre curtains to supply it a more authentic feel. I ended up doing all that and I also set up a nice sound system. Then I realized I was missing the most pressing thing, weather conditions control! There was no way that I was going to crank the in the whole house to make it nice and cool in the basement, so I had a ductless mini split installed. Now the two of us have energy efficient cooling in the basement and an awesome movie theatre. The first transport the adolescents wanted to watch was Jurassic Park.
