Every weekend during the winter season, my brother and I go to the lake so we can fish for salmon.
The same one always bite when it is extremely cold outside. The fish are hungry. My brother and I inherited an old fishing shack from our grandfather. He is no longer able to use the shack all of the time, so my brother and I use it every weekend. There are times when our grandfather joins us, but they are more and more infrequent. My grandfather thinks it is a sin to use heat in the shack. He remembers fishing in the ice and bundling up without any heat. My brother and I are not the same. Every time we go to the shop, we bring a small battery operated space heater. We go through 8D batteries every time we go to the fishing shack, but it is worth it to feel the warm air from the space heater. It works extremely well and it does not melt the ice. My brother and I turn it on for a few hours and we thaw out our hands and feet. Last weekend it was -5 degrees outside, but my brother and I were pulling fish out of the water every 5 minutes. We had a lot of fish so we threw all of the smaller ones back in the water. The only reason we could spend all day fishing outside was due to the space heater. I don’t feel bad for being weak or cold if it means getting to spend eight hours on the water instead of two.
