Peak heating hours are for air conditioning

I have new neighbors.

And they moved down here from way up north early last Fall.

That’s both the best time to move here from the north and the worst time. It’s awesome because there is no gas furnace to have heating maintenance done to. The weather here in the Winter is pretty much spectacular which is why there are folks who only Winter here. The new neighbors were just totally overjoyed at the prospect of living without ice and snow. Throw in the fact that the heating costs are pretty much negligible and it’s just wins all over the place. I also heard their heat pump kick on with air conditioning like the first week of March. This is not unusual and I have seen this happen before right here on our street. There were some folks that loved moving here in the Winter and then moved back after the first Summer. For sure, there is a balance to everything. And the Summer is definitely the price we pay for the rest of the year being so awesome outside. I really didn’t want to pester my new neighbors but I also wanted to offer some advice that perhaps is best delivered from a native of the area. We had them over for a BBQ on our deck about a week ago. And I could tell that they would have preferred to be inside the central air conditioning. I wanted them to understand that acclimating to the heat during the Spring will help them manage the Summer heat so much better. All that air conditioning they already have going really is for the peak heating hours of the Summer. And if they can adjust to that, it makes living here in the Summer just so much better.
