So Dad is serious about air conditioning this Summer

He’s right of course.

Spring break isn’t something that is terribly interesting to me because I’m not exactly the party boy type. In fact, I’m more the nerdy, academic type who needs to get out of the air conditioning now and again for some fresh air. But when you discover your passion for science at such a young age, you long for the opportunity to really dive into it. And college is certainly providing that experience. But when it comes to breaks, I do like to go home. My parents are cool people and I have a younger sister who is a junior in highschool. We actually get along great and she too is a bit of a nerd. Only her thing is math. I’m thinking she’s going to get into physics or some sort of advanced math. So I enjoyed being home and back in the south for Spring break. I go to school up north. While the Winter didn’t completely freak me out, I sure had to spend a lot of time inside a dorm room with unrelenting radiant heating. It’s still coolish up there so coming home to the sun and temps in the 70’s and even 80 was a great change of pace. I noticed right away that dad was still sticking with the no air conditioning until May thing that he has going on. He’s right of course. By limiting the cooling in the Spring, we get accustomed to higher temperatures and that ever present humidity. But dad is really serious this year as there is new HVAC technology in the house. He had a smart thermostat installed and he even locked out any sort of manual manipulation of the thermostat setting.
