Three weeks later when the project or endeavor is finally complete, I’m hating myself for ever even starting it.
This sort of scenario has played out all too often in my life. So when I started reading that saving on the heating bills during the Winter was easy, I was far from convinced. Yet, I really did want to do something about how much the gas furnace was costing me during our long Winter. While we need the air conditioning from our central air conditioning system in July and August, the HVAC is really about the cooling. Where we live, HVAC is generally all about the heating. The cold starts by mid October and doesn’t let up until about now. Actually, the Spring was a bit early this year which was a lovely surprise. But it wasn’t as cool a surprise as how much I ended up being able to save on heating costs. Last Summer, I started looking at HVAC sites online to get a better, more detailed understanding of Winter prep for the house. This was something I just really didn’t do for our house. Sure, I had the HVAC professionals come out to do the heating maintenance prior to cranking up the gas furnace for the year. But I never did much of anything else until this past Fall. After getting some good directions online from the HVAC company, I gave it a go. To my great pleasure, it really wasn’t labor intensive nor did it take up a huge amount of time either. The payoff has been so surprising as I saved 20 percent on heating costs since October.
