How I wrecked my first a/c on accident

I remember when I turned 18 and moved out of my parent’s house on my own! Technically, I wasn’t completely on my own, i couldn’t afford to get my own place, so I moved in with a friend, and the two of us shared all of the bills. The apartment that the two of us were living in had its own oil furnace that worked unquestionably well. The building owner was responsible for fixing the oil furnace whenever it stopped working, and he was unquestionably dependable. The oil furnace stopped working a few times while the two of us were in the first winter, but the building owner consistently had an Heating, Ventilation, and A/C serviceman at the house by the following day, but unfortunately, the apartment didn’t come with an a/c, so the two of us had to find out our own way to cool the house while the two of us were in the summer, all of us lived in the midwest, and the un-even temperatures would climb into the 90s while the two of us were in the Summer afternoons. In order to make myself believe a bit more comfortable, I went to the store and purchased a window a/c. In hindsight, I should have purchased a sixth window a/c, but when I tried installing the window a/c I purchased, I didn’t think what I was doing. I knew that I had to balance the a/c in the window while I tried to close the glass. Unfortunately, I had the a/c hanging a few inches too far outside of the window, and when I tried to close the glass, the a/c fell out of the Winter and onto the sidewalk a few stories down. There goes that idea. I wonder if the store will let myself and others return the a/c.
