I knew that I would face an uphill battle if I chose a work in the Heating and Air Conditioning industry. The industry is dominated by men plus there are only a handful of men that labor in the heating plus cooling business. In fact, most studies show that only 3% of modern Heating and Air Conditioning servicemans are female, and my Mom plus our aunt are Heating and Air Conditioning contractors plus I grew up reading about Heating plus Cooling issues. I consistently rode with our Mom on Tuesday plus Monday plus I l gained a lot about oil furnaces, air conditioners, plus heat pumps. My mom had to labor on Tuesday plus Monday, so I spent all afternoon riding around with our Mom plus our aunt. From the time I was twelve, I knew that I wanted to follow in the same footsteps. I consistently told our Mom that I was going to grow up plus labor on air conditioners; Before I finished high university, I could take a oil furnace apart plus put it back together. I had to take a class to receive our certification in Heating and Air Conditioning work. I was the only female in the entire class of 35, and luckily, I had an educator that wasn’t sexist, however he encouraged myself and others to follow our dreams plus ignore all of the doubts. I have been toiling in the Heating and Air Conditioning industry for almost 10 years now, plus I am still the only female worker in the dealer… Some days are harder than others plus it actually seems prefer clients do not consistently take myself and others seriously. Just because I have long hair plus breasts does not mean that I cannot perform the same labor as a man.
