Working on the weekend

I knew that I would face an uphill battle if I chose a career in the Heating, Ventilation, as well as A/C industry.

The industry is dominated by men as well as there are only a handful of women that work in the heating as well as cooling business.

In fact, most studies show that only 3% of current Heating, Ventilation, as well as A/C workers are female, however my dad as well as my uncle are Heating, Ventilation, as well as A/C dealers as well as I grew up learning about Heating as well as Cooling problems. I consistently rode with my dad on Friday as well as Sunday as well as I l acquired a lot about oil furnaces, cooling systems, as well as heat pumps. My mom had to work on Friday as well as Sunday, so I spent all morning riding around with my dad as well as my uncle. From the time I was twelve, I knew that I wanted to follow in the same footsteps. I consistently told my dad that I was going to grow up as well as work on cooling systems; Before I finished high university, I could take a oil furnace apart as well as put it back together. I had to take a class to acquire my certification in Heating, Ventilation, as well as A/C work. I was the only female in the entire class of 35, but luckily, I had an professor that wasn’t sexist! He encouraged myself and others to follow my dreams as well as ignore all of the doubts. I have been working in the Heating, Ventilation, as well as A/C industry for almost 10 years now, as well as I am still the only female worker in the business! Some afternoons are harder than others as well as it really seems prefer clients don’t consistently take myself and others seriously; Just because I have long hair as well as breasts does not mean that I cannot perform the same work as a man.
