I was actually surprised when a local HVAC worker was arrested in our town. I knew that the HVAC company had a policy where they would haul away your old HVAC unit for no additional charge. Apparently, this guy was fixing the old HVAC units and selling them to people for profit. He did this without the knowledge of his boss apparently until he got caught. Charges were pressed and he was convicted for theft. I thought about it and it didn’t seem like such a serious crime. I mean, if the owners willingly gave away the old HVAC units, it seemed fair that those units could be installed in someone else’s home if they wanted a cheaper deal. I guess those systems were considered the HVAC owner’s property though and he was not happy about that situation. I don’t know what he was planning on doing with the old HVAC systems, apparently selling old refurbished parts is extremely profitable. I heard that HVAC guy will be in jail for only a short period of time though, and I am hearing rumors that he’s talking about starting up his own HVAC company. A lot of my buddies think that this guy is going to compete hard against his former boss and they are actually rooting for the guy. I don’t really know, I think he might get his karma and have a worker he hires steal from him down the road, who knows. It’s only the talk of the town right now, I’m sure people won’t really care anymore about this thing soon enough.
