Why does anyone want a fireplace in their home?

I thought a fireplace was too much labor to have one in my home.

I remembered how my dad would trudge out into the woods to get downed trees, and he would bring them back to the apartment where the two of us would split the trees into lengths & after that I had to help split them.

It was a lot of hard work, & it made myself and others wonder why anyone would want a fireplace in their home. A fireplace was dirty & way too much labor for me, with there an energy crisis going on, I still wasn’t convinced I should have a fireplace in my house. My wife was trying to tell myself and others the two of us should get a fireplace to help with the heating. I tried to tell her why I didn’t want a fireplace, although she told myself and others I didn’t understand what she was talking about. I knew exactly what a fireplace was. I knew how much it smelled, how much smoke got into the house, & how dirty it was. I also knew I didn’t want a fireplace in my house. I ignored her protests & walked away. A month later, I came into the house, & there was a package kneeling inside; She told myself and others she had purchased a fireplace that would make both of us ecstatic. I started blustering about not having a fireplace. I saw her cross her arms, & then she glared at me. I couldn’t say anything, because she would not let myself and others walk away. She pointed to the package & told myself and others about the fireplace. It was an electric fireplace that was supposed to use less than $20 in energy a month.
