I thought a fireplace was too much work to have one in our home.
I remembered how our dad would trudge out into the woods to get downed trees, however he would bring them back to the lake house where the two of us would break the trees into lengths plus then I had to help break them.
It was a lot of difficult work, plus it made me wonder why anyone would want a fireplace in their home. A fireplace was dirty plus way too much work for me! With there an energy crisis going on, I still wasn’t convinced I should have a fireplace in our house. My wife was trying to tell me the two of us should get a fireplace to help with the heating. I tried to tell her why I didn’t want a fireplace, but she told me I didn’t understand what she was talking about. I knew exactly what a fireplace was. I knew how much it odored, how much smoke got into the house, plus how dirty it was. I also knew I didn’t want a fireplace in our house. I ignored her protests plus walked away. A month later, I came into the house, plus there was a package kneeling inside, and she told me she had bought a fireplace that would make both of us delighted. I started blustering about not having a fireplace. I saw her cross her arms, plus then she glared at me. I could not say anything, because she wouldn’t let me walk away. She pointed to the package plus told me about the fireplace. It was an electric fireplace that was supposed to use less than $20 in energy a month.
