When a new guy moves into town

It’s really interesting to see how much things can change with just one variable being altered in a small town. For instance, when the local school moved a few blocks over there was nearly a riot in the middle of our sleepy little village. A few months ago when the mayor was found out to be an atheist, I think the place almost burned to the ground. Last month when a new heating, cooling, and ventilation repair service opened… I also thought that it might be our town-wide Armageddon. You see, we have had the same indoor air quality control specialist in town for the past 60 years. He’s an old man named Ned, the guy can barely see you anymore, and he was never a great heating and cooling repair man in the first place. Most of the time if you called and said to repair your air conditioner or forced air furnace, you were going to be calling Ed 10 more times after the first repair service didn’t work. The guy had fair prices for his subpar knowledge and ability with indoor air quality control systems, but that didn’t really save you from the frustration of the inconvenience of having a broken indoor air temperature device. I went through many Summers without reliable air conditioning because Ned could not get to the bottom of it. But then, a new guy moved in. A young dude with an actual Professional Heating, Cooling, and ventilation service degree. He immediately stirred up the entire town by fixing our indoor air temperature devices promptly, the first time. But the town was divided by loyalty to Ned. Today, Ned and the new guy seem to be teaming up. You always hope you get the new HVAC technician, to be honest.
