Blocking the air vent to smoke

Being a mother is such a funny experience.

It feels like you’re always on edge, wondering who’s getting hurt or what’s going wrong next.

Every day, I wake up waiting for the other shoe to drop. It is an exhausting existence and as much as I love my kids I am ready for them to grow up and get out of my hair. All of that being said, these days I am having to battle my kids when it comes to unhealthy habits such as vaping and smoking. Whenever I turn around, it seems like they’re trying to sneak off into the woods for a quick puff. I do my absolute best to keep an eye on them, but it’s nearly impossible in today’s day and age. They are ingenious liars and they managed to pull the wool over my eyes many times. Most recently, I couldn’t understand why our house was feeling so unevenly hot and cold towards the bedrooms. Every time I walked near my kids’ room, it seems like there was a cold draft passing under the door. When I went inside, however, the windows were closed and I couldn’t figure out where the cold air was originated from. I asked my kids if they were feeling cold in their bedrooms, but they simply shrugged and said it felt fine. After a few weeks of this confusing temperature drama, I finally realized what the problem was. I went into my son’s room, inspected an air vent, and realized that it was completely plugged up from the inside. Then, I found the dryer sheets. Suddenly I realized my kids we’re probably feeling quite cold because they had blocked the air vents to prevent air circulation into the rest of the house. Their ice cold bedrooms were serving as sneaky smoking lounges.
