When you have various people living in a single house, zone control is necessary, then everybody has an opinion if the heating system or a/c should be on. Everybody has a control device setting they like best. I used to attempt to get the household to agree on a single temperature. It was a nightmare. My father has poor circulation and constantly wanted the heating system on, even in the summer. My kid works out in the cabin and constantly was turning the A/C on and leaving it. My wife prefered to have no Heating & A/C whatsoever since she did not like air hitting him. It was constant fights and control device changes. My central Heating & A/C system finally died and I got it replaced with a ductless model. There is a single outdoor air compressor. Inside, every room in the cabin has an indoor air handler and control unit. Each room of the cabin can set the heating and air and not affect the other a single. This is Heating & A/C zone control. It is fantastic for our family since they each can have their rooms to what they want. The community areas like the kitchen, dining room and office are controlled by whoever is in the room most. I believe because everybody has their own space with perfect weather conditions control, we are all a bit more lenient. I also save money not providing Heating & A/C in rooms that are not used or used by our wife.
