Now that I am getting older I have been trying to teach my son some important life lessons before I am too old to be able to do so.
My son is nearly twelve years old at this point and there are so many things that I had been hoping to teach him like how to build a fire and how to fix things on his own without needing to reach out for help. Last week I decided to start teaching him about some of the more complicated and tricky lessons I had in mind, HVAC repair. For the past twenty five years I have been working as a certified HVAC repair tech and I have loved every minute of it. Despite how long I have been working in this industry there are a few reasons as to why I haven’t wanted to bring my son into the fold. Back when I was a little boy my father also worked as an HVAC repair tech for a living, I naturally had a gift for it when I was his age, but because of the lack of staff that my father had I was more or less forced to start working for him before I could even legally drive. I don’t want my son to feel forced into this profession whatsoever and he should have the ability to pick out only what he loves to do. If he does end up jumping into the HVAC industry I have no problems, but it will only be because he wanted to for himself and not because of me or anyone else for that matter.
