When the temperatures are cold, the heat pump might not work well

Because of the way that a heat pump is designed, the machine might not work very well when temperatures are extremely cold.

  • A heat pump is made to work in temperatures that are above freezing.

There are a number of benefits to having a heat pump installed. The machine is super quiet and has minimum noise. A furnace or central air conditioner can be extremely loud, but the heat pump is often virtually silent. A heat pump does not require the use of gas or oil. A heat pump is also extremely efficient. A heat pump can be added to a central air conditioner to have both heating and cooling options. A heat pump can be installed to allow ductless heating and cooling options as well. My family and I had to replace our heating system last year. We had an electric furnace in the past, but the contractor suggested we go with a heat pump instead. The HVAC contractor gave us a great deal on a new heat pump and air compressor. When the temperatures are cold, we don’t have to worry about the heat pump. It has a special emergency heating function that automatically shuts the machine down when the temperatures are too cold. This keeps the system from overheating and causing a lot of problems that might be very expensive to fix. The number one most expensive item in your home to fix, repair, or replace is the heating and cooling system. Proper maintenance and care is extremely important and can often help the system last for several extra years.
