The hotel kitchen was close to 100 degrees

Saturday was my day off, but my boss called early in the morning to ask me to come to work.

I didn’t have any pressing plans for the day, so I agreed to go to work.

When I arrived, I found out that the kitchen AC was not working. The kitchen in the hotel was close to 100°. I was very upset and angry with my boss. If she had told me about the air conditioning problem, I never would have agreed to come to work that day. The kitchen was sweltering hot and very humid. One of the guys opened the back door, but it was honestly just as warm and humid outside. Opening the door did not help much, especially since there wasn’t much of a breeze outside. I asked my boss if someone contacted a repair service for the AC problem. My boss told me that the problem was being handled. After lunch, I still had not seen a repair technician so I decided to ask my boss again. The hotel manager told me that the hotel had failed to pay the bills for the HVAC repair company, so they would no longer come out to assist with heating or cooling problems unless we could pay for the bills upfront. I didn’t realize that the hotel was losing money and I was very concerned after I found out about the problem. I worked all day in that kitchen and it was hot and miserable. That is absolutely the last time I agree to work overtime on a Saturday or Sunday.
