The shack is small, but it is warm and cozy

I live in a small shack right outside of the Arctic Circle.

The weather here is always cold and icy. The ground is frozen 12 months out of the year. My friend and I prefer to spend our time snowmobiling and ice fishing. The lake near my shack has great ice fishing. I have a pole in the water all of the time. I can eat for free if I catch fish in the lake. If a fish is on the hook, the flag starts to pop up out of the water. I built a small shack by the lake and it has a single room. I used a couple of pieces of plywood and some other construction materials that I found around town. The shack is small, but it is warm and cozy. I have a small wood stove in the middle of the room. It heats the place nicely and it does not cost a fortune. I keep a steady supply of wood outside under a tarp. The wood lasts all winter and in the spring I cut another stack. The wood stove provides plenty of heat and it also gives me a spot to cook. The top of the stove is very hot to the touch. I can boil water or cook a steak in a pan. My mom doesn’t like the fact that I live by myself, but I like being alone. Every once in a while I go to the city to visit with my friends or have a drink. The rest of the time I hang out at my shack. I work during the day and come home at night. People think it is a boring life, but I am very happy.
