I live in a small 2-bedroom townhouse in a decent neighborhood. It’s pretty quiet over here, and the neighbors are all familiar with each other. There are tons of restaurants around and lots of things to do, which is great because we don’t have to leave the neighborhood to find entertainment. I live alone and I really enjoy it. There are some benefits to living alone, one of which is that I can use my HVAC system as I please. I lived with a roommate for 3 years, and we constantly fought about the heating and cooling. She liked to keep the house extremely warm in the Winter, but I preferred not to use the heat at all. I can’t sleep in a room that is too hot, so I did what I could to keep cool, including opening my bedroom window. In hindsight, we probably should have invested in a smart thermostat, but unfortunately, we didn’t. But now that I live alone, I get to control how I cool and heat my home. There are some Winter nights where the temperature does drop below normal, and on those nights, I do use the heat. But I don’t need to heat my entire home, therefore, I just purchased a small space heater so that I can use it in my bedroom or living room. There are so many different types of space heaters on the market, and the one that I have has an adjustable thermostat and a built-in timer with a cut-off switch. Therefore, I feel safe using this space heater, and the best part is, I don’t have to turn on my HVAC in the Winter.
