The lake house felt quite hot and humid

It’s been such a long time since my dad and I last went on a vacation together.

I remember all those times we used to travel in his campervan and visit amazing places.

We kept doing family trips until mom passed away, and life changed. I guess I wasn’t ready to deal with the loss, and I chose to run away. I went on a volunteer mission to Africa about a month after the funeral. Looking back now, I wish I had stayed for a year or so to grieve with dad. But, he never stopped me when I told him my plans. It’s taken me 5 years to find my way back home, and my dad was there to pick me up at the airport. We got to reconnect, talk about mom, and thought of taking a trip in her honor. There’s this lovely lake house I’d seen online while checking out nice vacation places we could visit and stay. Dad suggested we rent a camper van like the old days, provided it came with an AC. Traveling in June can be terrifying if you’re in a vehicle with poor cooling. We did find a camper van available to rent, and made sure to check out the AC before we went home with it. It took us about 2 days traveling in the most amazing landscapes to get to the lake house. But, when we got there, we realized the lake house was hot and humid. This is because no one had been there to turn on the AC before we arrived. I did manage to trace where the thermostat was located. We ended up having the best time ever, and I believe our bond is stronger.
