If you have the heating and AC system tune up performed, then do you save about $50 on the cost of calling for a troubleshooting call. If there is a problem with the heating and AC system, the chances are very likely that a tune-up will be able to recognize that problem. Then we will charge for a repair on top of the tune up. A brand new customer called us for an AC tune up. I responded to the service call. I immediately knew that it was the first time that the customer had ever called us or anyone else to service the system. The ductwork was filthy and the air vents were covered with grime. The outdoor AC area needed to be cleaned badly. I have no idea how the AC unit was still working, because it was really dirty and in poor shape. There was mud and leaves all over the inside of the system. The evaporator coils were dirty too and there was algae in the condensate drain line. I spent at least an hour or maybe 90 minutes on the tune-up and a lot of that time was simply cleaning the machine. I made sure to tell the customer that next time she needs to be certain that she is handling some of this maintenance on her own. It will certainly help make the machine much more energy efficient.
