The HVAC tech said he was proud to serve.

I had to laugh last when the HVAC technician came to the house.

When he was finsihed working on the furnace, he told me he was proud to serve, and saluted me.

I knew he had to have been a military man at some point in his life. My husband got home just as he was getting into his service van, and they stopped to talk. I wasn’t sure what my husband had asked, but I saw a kindred look come between them. The HVAC technician stood there for almost an hour, chatting with my husband. I heard my name and walked outside. My husband wanted to know if we had room for two more for dinner? I always had enough food and room for more people. He said he invited the HVAC technician and his wife to dinner. I didn’t care, and I told him it was fine with me as long as they liked fried chicken and mashed potatoes. The HVAC technician asked if I was sure, and I nodded yes and said dinner was at 7 PM. I couldn’t believe how well his wife and I got along. They had a twelve-year-son that meshed perfectly with our twelve-year old. It was like a friendship made in heaven. Later that evening, our husbands were holed up in the den and we got talking about them. She told me her husband became an HVAC technician in the Navy. My husband was also in the Navy and they served at the same Naval base. It’s no wonder they got along so well. They were both cut from the same cloth.
