I know how treacherous our roads can get when it snows. I had an HVAC service call scheduled for the same time as the storm was to hit, and I was thinking about cancelling. I had reservations about cancelling, but I didn’t want to drive in the snow, and I didn’t want anyone else to. I was talking to my mom and asked what she thought. She said that dad used to go to homes and make repairs regardless of the weather. She didn’t think there was any reason to cancel the HVAC service call. If things got too dire, she was sure the HVAC company would call me and give me an alternative service time and date. I knew dad was a workaholic and not everyone had his work ethics. The HVAC company I used was owned by dad up until five years ago. I didn’t know if his ethics rubbed off on them before he retired. I called my brother, who now owned the HVAC company and asked his opinion. He asked what was wrong with the furnace and he said it really should be checked out, but it was my decision. I told him to cancel the HVAC service call for me and I would reschedule in a couple of days. Two hours later, my brother was knocking on my door. He told me he didn’t want me to go without heat, so he was there to do the furnace repair before he went home. My big brother was always looking out for his little sister and his nephew who idolized the ground he walked on.
