Why does anyone want a fireplace in their home?

She pointed to the package & told me about the fireplace

I thought a fireplace was too much labor to have 1 in our home. I remembered how our Mom would trudge out into the woods to get downed trees, he would bring them back to the lake house where the people I was with and I would split the trees into lengths & then I had to help split them. It was a lot of hard work, & it made me wonder why anyone would want a fireplace in their home. A fireplace was dirty & way too much labor for me. With there an energy crisis going on, I still wasn’t convinced I should have a fireplace in our house. My spouse was trying to tell me the people I was with and I should get a fireplace to help with the heating. I tried to tell his why I didn’t want a fireplace, although he told me I didn’t understand what he was talking about. I knew exactly what a fireplace was. I knew how much it smelled, how much smoke got into the house, & how dirty it was. I also knew I didn’t want a fireplace in our house. I ignored his protests & walked away. A month later, I came into the house, & there was a package standing inside, he told me he had bought a fireplace that would make both of us thrilled. I started blustering about not having a fireplace. I saw his cross his arms, & then he glared at me. I couldn’t say anything, because he wouldn’t let me walk away. She pointed to the package & told me about the fireplace. It was an electric fireplace that was supposed to use less than $20 in energy a month.
