Only HVAC Professionals Should Work on Heating and Cooling Unit

My dad was one of those guys who really prided himself on not having to call service professionals.

It was his house so he felt like he should be the one to take care of all the stuff in it.

By and large, he was able to do that. But, that was also a different era. Technology wasn’t as built in to everything the way it is now. He was able to actually take something apart and have a look at what might be wrong. He passed this trait on to me. However, I find there are far less things that I can work on than my old man. I’m able to do a few things to the car or maybe a few household things. But, when I open something up and there are computer chips all over, I tend to just call someone. I wished I had called the HVAC pro when my furnace went down. I heard the furnace shut down with a bit of a bang one day. Instead of picking up the phone right away, I wanted to have a look myself. The furnace was fairly straight forward when I had a look inside. I could clearly see that a valve switch had simply burned out which caused the furnace to shut down. I found a replacement switch online. The new switch went in just fine and the furnace fired right back up. I figured all was well. However, less than 2 weeks later, the furnace shut off again. But this time, it was with a shuddering slam that could be felt through the house. The part was faulty and cracked the core of my furnace. I should have called the HVAC pro.
