I loved the old house, but there was no HVAC.

My husband inherited an old house.

  • I thought it would be an old house with a lot of charm, but I wasn’t sure that was the truth.

When I walked into the house, there wasn’t an HVAC system, and the fireplace was ripped apart. There was no heating and no air conditioning unless you considered the hole in the wall and ceiling to be air conditioning. It definitely gave the house a lot of airflow, but that isn’t what I wanted. I wanted to have heating and air conditioning, and not just airflow. We looked through the house, and my husband had a lot of memories of being in this house with his uncle. We talked about the house, and looked around for a couple of hours before we left. When we got home, he wanted to know what we should do with the old house. He looked so upset that I felt bad for telling him I didn’t like the house. I told them we could always mortgage our home, and use the money to make repairs and install an HVAC system. Once it was repaired, we could move into the house and do the rest of the repairs needed. As long as we had solid walls, a roof, and an HVAC system, it would be simple to remodel the house. He thanked me for the offer, but said he would rather keep our home and sell the house. There were a lot of memories, but the house wasn’t worth all the work we needed to get it ready to live in.
