The window was cold, but the furnace kept me warm.

My daughter was three-years-old when I saw her putting her hand on the window.

She pulled her hand back and looked at it, then put it back on the window again.

I saw her do this several times before going over to the air vent and feeling the heat. I leaned down and asked what she was doing? She told me the window was cold, but it was warm in the house. I told her the window was cold from the snow and cold outside. The furnace put heat through the air vent to keep her warm. She thought this was cool. When my mom showed up, she took her to the window and told her to touch it. Mom looked at me, and I nodded. She put her hand on the window, and Jenny told her the window was cold. She took her to the air vent and explained that the furnace kept her warm. She was matter-of-fact when she told mom the window could be cold, but the furnace would keep us warm and walked away. Mom asked if the HVAC technician had been there lately? I told her how Jenny had been testing the theory on her own, and decided it was okay for the window to be cold, but she was glad we had a furnace. Later that day, Jenny was standing over the air vent. Mom asked if she was cold. She laughed and said the heat coming out of the air vent tickled her legs when it blew up her pants. All we could do was laugh.
